Chip Breast Prosthesis

When we look at the world population, although there is no exact number, it is known that 7-8 million women have breast prosthesis. Prostheses are used in various specifications and in different sizes in each tissue. Many women have unfortunately lost their breasts due to breast cancer and had to use prostheses, there may be some problems during and after the application process of prostheses used for aesthetic appearance.

When looking at the world population, it is known that 7-8 million women have breast prosthesis, although there is no exact number. Many women have unfortunately lost their breasts due to breast cancer and had to use prostheses, and there may be some problems during and after the application process of prostheses used for aesthetic appearance.

Silicone breast prostheses have been indispensable materials used by plastic surgeons in breast augmentation operations for many years. In the 2000s, they were used as prostheses filled with non-fluid cohesive gel silicone in a rough structure by taking their final shape.

The company named Motiva has made some changes in this rough structure with technological investments and has greatly reduced the capsular contracture that can be seen in silicones. Capsular contracture is the hardening and even deformity caused by the production of a thick tissue around the silicone by perceiving it as a foreign body. Motiva has succeeded in preventing fibroblasts from forming this hard capsule by reducing this rough structure in the prostheses to a much more micro level and has very low rates. In addition, with the ergonomic prosthesis type, the mammary prosthesis, which is actually round in shape, takes the shape of a drop in the patient and provides a natural appearance. Drop prostheses are produced with a denser and harder silicone called cohesive three in order to maintain the drop shape. This makes it a little hard on the chest. This ergonomic prosthesis is a very soft prosthesis by eliminating this problem. Therefore, its use is preferred by the patient and the doctor because it does not feel hard in the breast.

Another important feature of Motiva prostheses is that a microchip is placed inside the prosthesis, so that the microchip determines the identity of the prosthesis and measures the temperature increase. When the doctor brings a chip reader close to the patient’s chest, he can learn all the features of the silicone such as model, year of production, serial number wherever it goes in the world. There is no need to carry a card, and many patients lose these cards. Measuring the temperature increase is important for possible infection in the early period. In the late period, we know that it is important in detecting possible temperature increases in breast cancer and that the company is in scientific studies to serve as an early diagnosis tool on this subject. In other words, it seems that this type of prosthesis will be highly preferred in the future.

As a plastic surgeon who follows innovations and is open to continuous self-improvement, I think that I am always open to the latest innovations after proving their reliability and it is our duty to offer you, my patients, the convenience of technology.
